Overview

Although there are many people who are keen to open new accounts for internet banking malaysia, there are also so many people who still stick to the old traditional way to cash out from ATMs and buy things from physical stores. Do you know that ATMs are actually the prime target for thieves to steal ? They would just grab your money and run away. To avoid this from taking place, you should take certain precaution methods so that you don’t become a victim yourself. These are a few tips and tricks that you can follow in order to avoid being a victim.

– Be aware of your surroundings

It is so important to always look around when you are in an ATM especially if it is situated in a secluded area or in a place where there is less human around. It is best if you avoid taking money from ATMs from those locations. Notice if there is anyone suspicious around you or in the same area like waiting around the corner or probably waiting in their bike or car for a long time. If you notice activities like this, go back and try coming back another time or if you need cash immediately, ask someone you know to follow you.

– Don’t reveal your pin to anyone

If you have anyone else waiting for you in the line while you are cashing out, try your best to block the pin view with your body making sure no one else could see your pin. It is also important for you to shield your debit card so that people cant see the numbers, there are so many hackers who simply hack your money with the card number. Make sure to end your whole transaction process before you actually walk away from the ATM machine as people can retrieve information from the ATM.

– Avoid counting money in front of the ATM

As tempting as it may be for you to count the amount of money upon withdrawing, it can be actually very dangerous. Pickpockets are probably waiting for you to do so, so that they could run away with your money. Only count your money once you have reached a safe and secured place. Most of the time the machine dispenses the correct amount of money but if you fear mistakes, you could perhaps complain to the bank management and usually every ATM machine would have a CCTV camera above it that makes it easier to file the complaint.

– Choose the right ATM

Sometimes people tend to go to the ATM based on the crowd, which is not a bad thing but always remember that the less people there are the more chances for thefts to take place. So choose an ATM that is situated in a good location where there are buildings or people nearby. It is ok if that would mean that you need to wait for a long time because there would be some sort of regard for your safety rather than nothing.
